Appogee focuses on Apple because we believe it is the best choice for business. Now, it is also the best choice for our planet.

Apple has a history of channeling innovation to address global challenges. That task has never been more urgent than now, with the existing threats of climate change and environmental degradation that our planet faces. Apple believes they can make the world’s most iconic products—without depleting the earth’s resources. Apple takes responsibility for the impact of the entire value chain, including the complete life cycle of their products, as well as their facilities. This includes supporting the environmental innovation needed to help Apple meet its goals, and creating economic opportunities for minority-owned businesses and institutions that have been historically disadvantaged. By doing so, Apple hopes to build pathways for others to reduce their footprint while addressing environmental impacts that disproportionately negatively affect communities of color.

Since April of 2020 Apple is Carbon Neutral. That Means All of Apple’s  facilities, corporate emissions, and corporate travel don’t contribute carbon to the planet. This is just the starting point. By 2030 Apple’s whole carbon footprint — from manufacturing to transportation to end-of-life material recovery — will be nonexistent. A Climate Change Promise from Apple.

What is Carbon Neutrality?

infographic about carbon neutrality

Carbon Neutral is a term used to describe the state of an entity (such as a company, service, product or event), where the carbon emissions caused by them have been balanced out by funding an equivalent amount of carbon savings elsewhere in the world. These savings are generated through helping to fund renewable energy projects and energy efficiency projects, many of which bring additional social and community benefits in developing countries as well as reducing greenhouse gases.

By 2030 all of Apple will be Carbon Neutral. How will it be possible?

Apple’s Environmental Vision

Apple’s vision focuses on three main areas and the steps it will take to get there.

  1. Climate change: Transition their entire manufacturing supply chain to 100 percent renewable electricity by 2030. Reduce emissions by 75 percent from 2015 levels by 2030. Balance the remaining emissions with high-quality carbon removal projects.
  2. Resources: Use only recycled and renewable materials in Apple products and packaging. Eliminate plastics in Apple packaging by 2025. Minimize use of freshwater resources in water-stressed locations.
  3. Smarter chemistry: Drive 100 percent transparency of chemical use in Apple’s supply chain and products. Minimize exposure to chemicals that could be harmful to human health or the environment. Balance the remaining emissions with high-quality carbon removal projects.

”Climate change is real and we all share a responsibility to fight it. We will never waver, because we know that future generations depend on us.” ~Tim Cook, Apple CEO
